Master of Music (Opera Performance)

The Master of Music (Opera Performance) is a two-year program for opera performers and repetiteurs, including intensive studies in vocal coaching, Italian, French, German and English language for Opera, ensemble singing, role development, acting and music research, together with the opportunity to work as a practising singer/repetiteur, if appropriate, within Victorian Opera.

On completion of this program, graduates should be equipped with the appropriate skills to audition for any professional opera house with a number of fully-learned roles in the original language, demonstrating a thorough understanding of the nature of the role and its delivery, in context, from an operatic stage. Pathways to research masters degrees are also available.

Admission is based on audition and completion of an undergraduate qualification, in any discipline. Applications are sought from artists of the highest calibre who are prepared to commit wholeheartedly to an intensive program of work and who genuinely want a career in opera.

The course quota is strictly limited and intakes to the course will occur every two years, with the next being 2014.

Applications for 2014 entry close Friday 14th June, 2013.
